Is your vehicle important than life?

With every passing year, accidents in India are on an increase. India is a developing nation and majority of its population falls in the middle and lower income group. Buying a vehicle is nothing less than a luxury. We have always come across road tiffs which even sane people pick while travelling. People often tend to pick fights for trivial reasons where even mistakenly their vehicle rams into other person’s vehicle. But is that luxury worth a fight or someone’s life?

Advertisements/Campaigns often spread awareness about wearing of a helmet while riding a bike/scooter and putting on a seatbelt while driving a car. We talk about ‘No Honking’. However, we have not come across any person or rather Government campaigns or advertisement which talks about such issues.

Its often while travelling that we experience some insensitive behaviour from other fellow travellers. When a person’s vehicle out of oversight/error hits into another person’s vehicle, the brunt of the same is borne by other travellers on road. The two insensitive owners of the car pick fight over such a matter and throw concern for their so-called property/luxury, forgetting the fact that they are on a public road and causing inconvenience to others.

Everyone must have experienced such incidents and must have also read about horrendous incidents in newspapers as well. One incident which most of us must have read was the one where two people who were complete strangers got into an argument which turned into a nightmare for the person who acted as a mediator to resolve the dispute between two insane and insensitive car owners.

The incident was no different whereby one car rammed into another and the owners/drivers of the cars picked up a quarrel and the spat grew to an extent that they started abusing each other. A responsible and a sane citizen with an intention to resolve the same tried calming both the parties. However, who could have imagined that such a noble resolve would land him into a total vegetative state.

Well even after such incidents leaving a lasting impact on the minds of the fellow citizens, we still come across such disputes where people show so much of concern for tangible properties and give least importance to human life. Such situations can be handled with maturity by being impervious towards other travellers.
